Download and install MinKNOW

Please note

You may be asked to reboot your computer before installation. In case this happens, bookmark this page so you can return to it easily.

Double-click the .exe file to run the MinKNOW installer.

Allow the installer to make changes to your computer.

In the pop-up window, click Next.

When the installer is complete, click Close.

You will see the MinKNOW icon on your Desktop. Double-click on the icon to open the software and login using your Community login credentials.

You will be prompted to enter your email address and Nanopore password:

I get an error message “MinKNOW was not successfully install, please run the installer manually" when trying to install MinKNOW on Windows

This error occurs on Windows 7 systems that don't have the latest Windows Updates. If you have encountered this problem: • Please ensure that the most recently available Windows updates have been installed on your device.

• If this problem persists, please download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 redistributables. This is supplied free by Microsoft and the latest version can be downloaded from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53840

• Please restart your computer and re-run the MinKNOW installer.
