Learn about the community
The Nanopore Community is an online portal open to all Oxford Nanopore customers. It allows users to get support with their experiments, collaborate with each other, and be the first to hear about new products and updates. The Nanopore Community contains a wealth of resources to help you succeed in your nanopore experiments. Here are some pages that may help you make the most of your nanopore sequencing platform.
Nanopore Learning
Visit Nanopore LearningNanopore Learning is a collection of training videos arranged into courses. These courses cover all the main aspects of how to get started with nanopore sequencing, from planning your experiment to analysing your sequencing data. You can either follow an entire course from beginning to end or browse individual videos in the Lesson Library.
Introduction to nanopore sequencing (42 mins)
Control experiment: ligation sequencing guide (87 mins)
Control experiment: rapid sequencing guide (87 mins)
Nanopore sequencing SARS-CoV-2 (189 mins)
Documentation
Visit DocumentationThe Documentation section contains protocols, manuals and helpful tips to help you run your sequencing experiment. It is split into four sections
Plan
Help with planning your experiment, as well as best practice documents for specific applications

Your first experiment
When you buy your MinION starter pack, we suggest that you use your first flow cell to perform a control experiment. This allows you to try out nanopore sequencing using a high quality, highly purified control DNA or RNA sample supplied in your sequencing kit. We provide several detailed step-by-step guides to doing a control experiment with the Ligation Sequencing Kit, Rapid Sequencing Kit, or the Direct RNA Sequencing Kit. The guides take you through installing sequencing software on your computer, configuring your MinION, preparing a library using the control DNA or RNA, sequencing and analysing the data.
