Goal: to install the two pieces of software needed to carry out nanopore sequencing.

MinKNOW is an application provided by Oxford Nanopore that controls the MinION Mk1B device, tests hardware, checks flow cells, performs sequencing runs and basecalls data.

EPI2ME is a cloud-based analysis platform developed by Metrichor Ltd for Oxford Nanopore Technologies. The platform is used to perform further analysis of basecalled nanopore data, for example Lambda or RNA alignment, metagenomic analysis, and human exome mapping. Basecalled read files are uploaded to the EPI2ME platform via another piece of software called the Desktop Agent.

The MinKNOW software and the EPI2ME Desktop Agent need to be downloaded and installed. You should already have access to an EPI2ME account via your Nanopore Community username and password.
